Lions Mane Nuggets

Delicious "nuggets" made from lions mane mushrooms.

Lion’s Mane Nuggets

1lb lionsmane mushroom, cut into chunks or pulled into 2-inch pieces
3 medium to large eggs
1/4 cup
Panko or regular bread crumbs
1/4 cup
1 tsp old bay
½ tsp paprika
¼ cup coconut oil
fresh lemon
homemade tartar sauce - 1-2 TBSP mayo, splash of pickle juice and chopped fresh dill


  1. Heat a deep frying pan with 1-2 inches of high smoke point oil such as coconut or canola oil.

  2. Thoroughly coat mushrooms in egg, followed by a quick toss in breadcrumbs and then carefully place in hot oil and fry both sides until golden brown about 3 minutes per side. Do NOT overcrowd the pan, ensure each piece is not touching another.

  3. Remove to a plate with a paper towel and salt to taste while still hot.

  4. Cook in batches and serve as an appetizer with a sauce of your choosing (I like chipotle or tartar sauce)
